Coffee Chat · Three(-ish) Months to 30

It's wild to see the dread of your upcoming age show up in a Bo Burnham special and Tick Tick Boom while you're trying to feel good about turning 30.

I had this big (big) plan when I turned 29 to have my life together by the time I turned 30. Maybe not entirely together, but to have become the next and better version of myself and enter my thirties feeling the best I can.
A surprise to nobody is that I haven't done that.

So, I started a series on TikTok where I'm committing to the bit for three months and I wanted to take to here and talk about what that means for me. An outline of the next quarter of my year all leading up to the next decade.

Don't get me wrong, I'm surprisingly excited to get into a new decade because just the number 30 feels so put together. I was going through some clothes the other day thinking would 30-year-old Layne wear that? It really helped weed through some sweaters and tops that was holding a lot of weight from my 20s or felt too juvenile to bring into the decade with me.
Silly? Yeah, maybe a little bit. But, I have a LOT of clothes and most of them are striped crew-neck tees that could benefit a purge.

What does this series entail?

  • Physical health - I'm currently in a Peloton strength program and you can watch me struggle on TikTok.
  • Building a daily routine - Because I work from home, my days don't have a lot of structure and it's time to implement some in the day-to-day.
  • Develop better habits - Hand in hand with the latter, I want to spend my time with things that make me feel fulfilled and help me take better care of me both inside and out.
  • Declutter, tidy, clean, pack - The goal for 30 is to buy a house/condo/whatever I can actually afford in this dumbass economy. In the meantime, I have to go through things, get rid of things, pack some stuff up, and do a solid deep clean along the way.
  • Tackle my debt - This goes without saying, aren't we all in a little bit of debt? But, I want to really crack down and pay everything off by the end of 2023 (aside from the student loans, but let's not start with that.)

You can follow me on TikTok here and keep up with my journey right here.
I'll be checking in on here maybe once a month as we get closer and what monthly progress has been made.

Thanks y'all for reading. I have some questions for you to answer in the comments for me, pls. <3
